Winter Newborn Sessions

This winter I took several new photography courses. I think it’s important to be continually learning and improving my photography so I can better serve my clients. One of the courses I took was a lifestyle newborn course. I learned many valuable techniques and I was glad to be able to put them to use during a couple newborn sessions last month.

I had the pleasure of photographing two families that had each just welcomed a new baby girl into their home. I loved being able to capture these sweet babies who were both about 2 weeks old as they settled into their new life at home.

This is Baby E. Isn’t she adorable?

She was so good and slept for the first half of her session.

It’s nice to photograph a sleeping baby, but I do like it when they wake up so we can see those fun newborn expressions.

A couple weeks later I photographed Baby M who was just as cute.

Her big sister is old enough to help take care of her and young enough to be a best friend as they grow up.

My lifestyle sessions focus mostly on capturing life as it happens with the new baby. There is some posing, but the goal is to feature the relationships between the family members. I want to capture the way your husband looks at your new little one, as well as your baby’s precious tiny features that you don’t want to forget.

If you’re considering booking a lifestyle newborn session with me, please know that I definitely do not expect your house to be clean or even straightened up! I’m a mom of two boys, including one that was a newborn just 5 months ago. I know that at that point you’re sleep-deprived and may be lucky to even get out of your pajamas for the day!!! Trust me. We can still make beautiful pictures in your home!

Technically a newborn session is anytime between birth and 3 months, but the ideal time for these sessions is when the baby is between 2-4 weeks old. Expecting a baby? Let’s get your session scheduled! You can reach me through or by email at I’ll look forward to hearing from you!
