2018 has been quite an amazing year! I have had soooo much fun meeting and photographing new families. I knew I was doing a lot of sessions, but it wasn’t until this month when I took a moment to breathe, that I stopped and counted how many sessions I’d done and found that this year I quadrupled the number of regular sessions I did in 2017! I looked back at the goals I had written for my business in January of this year and saw that my goal was to double the number of regular sessions from 2017. Needless to say, I’m very happy that I’ve surpassed my goal by so much!
One of my goals for 2019 will definitely be trying to find a better balance between my work as a photographer and my home life. I know photography has seasons that are busier than others, but for four months straight from the beginning of August through the end of November I had at least one session (and usually multiple sessions) scheduled every weekend and on some weeknights. That meant I was spending every night and every naptime and eventually even time while my young sons were awake editing photos from those sessions. I also was staying up until 1 or 2am on most nights (and sometimes later) to get all the work done. I’m currently brainstorming ideas on how to improve this for next year. I know plenty of photographers burn out because they’re trying to do too much for too many people. I don’t want that to be me, so in 2019 I want to take steps to prevent that so I can continue to bless the all the families I serve and still be a blessing to my own family.
Here are some highlights from some of 2018’s sessions. I couldn’t fit photos from every session in these collages, but if you want to see more from 2018, you can visit my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/InLovelyLight/.
Families and Kids from 2018
I love to photograph families, kids and babies. I’m always hoping to capture genuine emotions in my photographs so I love it when families and kids let down their guards and let me photograph authentic moments of fun and connection.
I was thrilled to photograph so many seniors from the Class of 2019 this year. I had so much fun meeting all these wonderful young people. Maybe it’s because I used to teach high school students, but I love talking with them, learning more about them and about what they plan to do in the coming years.
I really adore lifestyle newborn sessions. Capturing the tender moments and love between the new baby and the family is so precious!!!! Here are some highlights from this year’s in-home newborn sessions.
2019 is just around the corner and although the first quarter of the year is usually the slow season for natural light photographers, my schedule for the new year is already starting to fill up. It’s never too early to get your session on the calendar. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to book your session now. I’ll look forward to photographing you in lovely light in 2019!
