Imagine being in high school and out of the blue the governor of your state announces that all schools will be cancelled for three weeks. And then a few weeks later he announces that school is cancelled for the rest of the year! In some ways you might think your wildest dreams have been realized. Not having to go to school sounds pretty great until you hear that not only can you not go to your school, but you also can’t hang out with your friends which doesn’t sound so great. And if you’re a senior and this was your last year of high school, you’re left feeling like you’re missing out on some pretty important milestones and celebrations.
Most of us don’t have to imagine this scenario because it either happened to us or to someone we know. The Class of 2020 is like no class ever before. Skip Day Champs. These seniors have had to navigate territory no one else has ever had to – surprise distance learning, virtual awards ceremonies, cancelled proms, figuring out all the rules for attending a very unusual graduation ceremony, connecting with their friends without the convenience of seeing them at school… I’m sure there’s more.
For this class more than any other, capturing their milestones and memories in photos is so very important! This spring I’ve had the pleasure of celebrating this class through Cap and Gown Sessions, Prom Dress Sessions and College Gear Sessions, in addition to regular Senior Photo Sessions.

Because of the quarantine many of the regular senior sessions were pushed back a couple months or more. In fact, I’m still scheduled to photograph one or two more in July as the 2021 senior sessions are starting up.
